VIMEPOX SP-COAT | Epoxy floors
Two-component, high-strength, colored epoxy coating for concrete floors
Chemical-resistant, wear-resistant, thin-layer floor coating
Epoxy garage floors
Epoxy floors for industrial premises
VIMEPOX SP-COAT, is a solvent-based, two-component, colored epoxy.
VIMEPOX SP-COAT provides:
-
high mechanical strength - hardness, combined with relative elasticity and abrasion resistance;
-
waterproofing and chemical resistance to impacts - acids, alkalis, solvents, fuels and lubricants, sea water and detergents;
-
durability, no weather damage;
-
high mechanical and chemical properties make VIMEPOX SP-COAT particularly suitable for painting pools;
-
as a rule, VIMEPOX SP-COAT is used as a protective coating and decorative paint for cementitious substrates such as concrete, cement mortar, plaster; asbestos-cement, cast iron and steel surfaces, both horizontal and vertical;
-
VIMEPOX SP-COAT is a top coat (paint) up to 1 mm thick;
-
in addition to high resistance to chemicals (see the relevant table), VIMEPOX SP-COAT is non-toxic and does not promote the migration of harmful substances into food: it is suitable for floors, walls and any food production and packaging in general;
- VIMEPOX SP-COAT is also ideal for floor coverings, walls of warehouses and industrial premises, chemical plants, auto stations, gas stations, as well as for corrosion protection of metal structures.

Base
The substrate must be solid, clean, free of dust, rust and oil stains to aid adhesion of the epoxy.
Foundation preparation
The base must first be treated mechanically - shot blasting, sandblasting and grinding, followed by removal of dust and dirt with a powerful industrial vacuum cleaner.
Epoxy Pool Paint
Foundation quality
Cement-concrete bases must meet the following main criteria:
-
Surface strength ≥ 1.5 N/mm2;
- Humidity ≤ 4%;
The prerequisite for the above requirements are:
-
concrete grade: not less than C 20/25;
-
cement screed quality: cement content ≥ 350 kg/m3;
-
age of the cement-concrete base > 28 days;
-
the epoxy coating process should not take place in a humid environment and especially in the presence of water vapor.
-
vapors will adversely affect the adhesion of the material, and will contribute to its eventual delamination from the substrate.
- it is necessary to foresee the exclusion of such conditions in advance.
Epoxy Pool Flooring
Padding
-
Porous, concrete-cement substrates, before applying VIMEPOX SP-COAT, are coated with a transparent epoxy primer with VIMEPOX PRIMER-S or VIMEPOX SP-COAT thinned with 10% VIMEPOX SOLVENT;
- The purpose of the primer is to fill existing pores, which will help produce a uniform finish after the epoxy has been applied.
Preparation of the mixture (kneading)
-
Components A (resin) and B (hardener) are packed in the required proportions.
-
Therefore, when mixing, the need to weigh them is eliminated, except when a smaller amount needs to be mixed .;
-
Before mixing the components, it is recommended to shake them up and mix them in a clean container using a mixer with low speed (300 rpm);
- Mixing time of the components to achieve a homogeneous mass ~ up to 5 minutes.
Laying
VIMEPOX SP-COAT can be applied to the surface with a special roller (short-haired) or with a spray gun.
Finish coating (paint) for outdoor concrete floors and pools
-
Prepare the epoxy mixture (see above);
-
Apply primer VIMEPOX PRIMER-S;
-
Consumption: 0.20-0.30 kg/m2 depending on the absorbency of the substrate;
-
Apply VIMEPOX SP-COAT using a roller in 2-3 coats;
-
Consumption: 0.20-0.25 kg/m2 for each layer;
-
Apply the next layer only after the previous one has dried;
-
The waiting time is 16-20 hours (at 20°C) and should not exceed 24 hours;
- The total thickness of the coating: primer and 2 coats of paint (x 0.25 kg/m2) does not exceed 400 microns.
Non-slip coating for concrete floors
-
After the first application of VIMEPOX SP-COAT, sprinkle a fresh coat with M 31 quartz sand (0.1 - 0.7 mm). After the epoxy has hardened, remove excess sand with an industrial vacuum cleaner;
- Then apply 2 to 3 coats of VIMEPOX SP-COAT, depending on the degree of anti-skid you want to achieve.

Epoxy materials for the pool
General remarks
-
For VIMEPOX SP-COAT to harden, the ambient temperature must be at least 10-12οC, while the substrate temperature is below 8οC;
-
Relative humidity should not exceed 70%. Otherwise, it is possible:
- loss of surface gloss (matting effect) and in the worst case;
- the appearance of a non-hardening film, which must be removed by sanding and water;
-
The negative effect on the adhesion of subsequent layers is affected by the humidity or dirt of the base;
-
Humid air or direct exposure to water on a freshly painted surface up to 6 hours after installation may cause discolouration or a sticky surface.
-
In this case, the surface must be sanded and repainted;
-
If more time elapses between the application of the previous and subsequent coats of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT than is permissible, then such a surface must be sanded using a mosaic machine.
-
Then vacuum the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner.
- Only then can the surface be painted again.
Tool Care
Tools should be cleaned with VIMEPOX SOLVENT immediately after use.
Storage and packaging
-
VIMEPOX SP-COAT should be stored in closed containers, in rooms with a temperature not lower than +10°C in winter and in the shade in summer.
- Shelf life is at least 24 months.
Note and Precautions
-
Both resin and hardener VIMEPOX SP-COAT must not come into contact with eyes and skin.
-
Inhalation of vapors should also be avoided;
-
Personnel working with this material must be protected with rubber gloves and goggles;
-
If the skin comes into contact with resin, hardener or mixture, it should be dried with a paper towel and then washed with cold water and soap (recommended to add 2% vinegar);
-
If the material gets into the eye, it should be flushed with plenty of cold water for 10-15 minutes, and then an ophthalmologist should be consulted;
- Once hardened, VIMEPOX SP-COAT is completely harmless to health.
