Epoxy garage floors
Epoxy floors for food production
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT, is a two-component, solvent-free, colored epoxy compound.
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT provides :
-
high mechanical strength - a combination of relative elasticity and abrasion hardness;
-
waterproofing and chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, fuels and lubricants, sea water and detergents;
-
durability, no damage from weather influences.

Epoxy floors for car service
VIMEPOX TOP - COAT is used as a protective coating and for decorative painting of cement-concrete structures, screeds, as well as for plastered, asbestos-cement, vertical-horizontal iron and steel surfaces.
-
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT, is designed for sealing (painting) surfaces less than 1mm thick (for repeated painting), which complies with the DIN 28052-1 standard for medium mechanical, both static and kinetic effects (for example, for vehicles with inflatable tires) for category 2 with a load of up to 1 n / mm2 = 100 t / m2.
-
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT has excellent chemical resistance.
-
The top layer of structures painted with this material does not show any toxicity, as well as the effect of transferring harmful substances to food.
- This epoxy is a suitable material for floor and wall covering in food production areas.

Base
The substrate must be solid, clean, free of dust, rust and oil stains, which will promote high adhesion of the epoxy.
Foundation preparation
Previously, the base should be treated mechanically - shot blasting, sandblasting or milling, followed by removal of dust and dirt from its surface with a powerful vacuum cleaner for industrial needs.
Cement-concrete pavements must meet the following main criteria
|
Surface strength |
≥ 1.5 N/mm2
|
|
Humidity |
≤ 4%.
|
|
Concrete brand |
Not less than C 20/25
|
|
The quality of the cement screed |
Cement content ≥ 350kg/m3
|
|
Age of the cement-concrete base |
> 28 days
|
-
epoxy coating processshould not take place in a humid environment and especially in the presence of water vapor;
-
vapors and condensate adversely affect the adhesiveness of the material and will contribute to its final delamination from the base;
- it is necessary to foresee the possibility of such weather conditions in advance.
Mechanical preparation of concrete industrial floors
Padding
-
Before applying VIMEPOX TOP-COAT, porous concrete-cement substrates are coated with a transparent epoxy primer with a solvent - VIMEPOX PRIMER-S or a primer without solvent - VIMEPOX PRIMER ECO;
-
The purpose of the primer is to fill existing pores;
- After applying the epoxy, this will help to obtain a uniform, finish surface.
Primer for epoxy floors
Painting the base with epoxy material contributes to:
-
improving the surface strength of the structure;
- seals hairline cracks and helps to solve the problem, with minor violations of the permissible humidity.
Mixing components
-
Components A (resin) και Β (hardener) are packed in the required proportions.
-
Therefore, during mixing, the need for weighing them is eliminated, except in cases of smaller volumes necessary for mixing;
-
It is recommended to knead the components in a clean bucket using a low-speed mixer (300 rpm).
- To achieve a homogeneous mass, the mixing time corresponds to approximately 5 minutes.

Laying
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT can be applied to the surface with a special roller (short-haired) or with a spray gun.
General remarks
-
For VIMEPOX TOP-COAT to harden, the ambient temperature must be at least 10-12 C, and the substrate temperature must be more than 8 C;
-
Relative humidity should not exceed 70%;
-
Within 6 hours, direct exposure to water on a freshly painted surface may cause discolouration or a sticky surface effect;
- Surfaces with existing epoxy should be milled to remove the gloss and then VIMEPOX TOP-COAT should be applied.

Application examples - consumption
Glossy, sealing concrete floor coating
-
Foundation preparation (see above);
-
Priming of the base VIMEPOX PRIMER-S or VIMEPOX PRIMER ECO;
-
Consumption: 200-300 g/m2 depending on the porosity of the substrate;
-
Application of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT with a roller in 2 layers;
-
Consumption : 250-300 g/m2 per coat;
-
After priming the surface, each subsequent layer of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT is applied only after the previous one has dried.
-
For example, at an ambient temperature of 20 C, the material is applied at intervals of 16-20 hours and in no case later than 24 hours.
-
The total thickness of the coating, taking into account the primer and two layers of epoxy (2x300 g/m2), exceeds 400 μm (micron) - 0.4 mm.
-
To repair base defects (depressions, breaks, etc.), a primer should be applied to the surface, then these places should be sprinkled with quartz sand Μ 32 (0.1-0.3 mm) over a fresh primer and leveled with VIMEPOX MORTAR epoxy repair compound .
-
After hardening, they must be milled, after which the order of application of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT should be observed .
Vimepox Top Coat
Non-slip surface of concrete-cement bases
-
After applying the first layer of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT, without waiting for it to dry, sprinkle the surface with quartz sand Μ 31 (0.1-0.7 mm);
-
After the epoxy has cured, the surface must be swept, removing excess sand from it;
- Next, a sealing layer of VIMEPOX TOP-COAT is applied with material consumption: 400-500 g/m2.
Safety Precautions
-
VIMEPOX TOP-COAT epoxy is an irritant and hardener is erosive.
-
When performing relevant work, personnel must be protected with rubber gloves and special construction goggles;
-
In case of contact of the components of the material or its mixture with the skin, it must be washed with soap and water with a two percent vinegar content;
-
If the material gets into the eyes, the affected areas are thoroughly washed with water for 10-15 minutes.
-
Further, for the purpose of prevention, you should contact an ophthalmologist;
- After hardening, VIMEPOX TOP-COAT, as well as primers VIMEPOX PRIMER-S and VIMEPOX PRIMER-ECO are absolutely safe for health.
