DIY epoxy floors
VIMEPOX BETON - IMP | It is a transparent, two-component epoxy impregnation, solvent based primer.
- The material has a very liquid consistency, penetrating deep into the base and filling all the pores.
-
It is the best solution to the problem of abrasion of the floor surface, as well as the occurrence of dust in production halls, warehouses, garages, parking lots and gas stations.

Dedusting concrete floors
The base surface impregnated with VIMEPOX BETON-IMP and after its hardening has:
-
increased mechanical strength, stabilizing ability and abrasion resistance;
-
with a closed and waterproof surface, protecting it from damage caused by frost;
- resistance to chemical influences: to alkaline and acidic substances of low concentration, to mineral oils, to combustible materials, to solvents, to cleaning and disinfection reagents.

Scope of epoxy impregnation
-
Epoxy floors for garages.
-
Epoxy floors for shop.
-
Epoxy polymer floors for food production.
-
Epoxy floors for cafes, bars, restaurants.
-
Epoxy floors for parking.
-
Installation of polymeric floors for all industries.
- Epoxy floors for car service.
According to DIN 28052-1, the use of the impregnation is suitable, without the need for any tests, for any kind of mechanical load on the floor, with the exception of hydrostatic pressure.
-
In fact, the application of impregnation is, in fact, the application of the first layer (i.e. primer), to further coat the surface with any of the epoxy compounds.
- Impregnation is applied in one or two layers.
Base
Mode of application
-
Concrete-cement substrates must be free from any foreign particles, dust, oils or grease.
-
Since for deep impregnation, the creation of an adhesive layer is not in demand, as a rule, the surface is not subjected to mechanical preparation.
-
However, for old, worn floors, mechanical preparation (milling, grinding) is sometimes necessary to level the surface.
-
Unlike other epoxy coatings, VIMEPOX BETON -IMP can be applied to relatively fresh concrete (after 3 days from the date of construction) because it does not affect the hydration of the cement.
-
In addition, impregnation is also possible for slightly damp substrates (humidity up to 6%).
- And yet, in order for the impregnation depth to reach 5 mm, the moisture content of the bases should not exceed 3%.

Mixing
-
Components A (resin) and component B (hardener) are packaged in different containers and in the required ratios.
-
This means that it is not necessary to weigh the components prior to mixing, except in cases where the amount of impregnation is less than the contents of the original packaging;
-
The two components A and B of the VIMEPOX BETON-IMP packs are emptied and mixed in a third clean vessel.
-
Mixing takes place with a low-speed mixer (up to 300 rpm), until a homogeneous mixture is created.
- Mixing time about 5 minutes.
Application
-
VIMEPOX BETON –IMP is applied by brush, roller or spray, usually in 1 or 2 coats, depending on the absorbency of the substrate;
-
Moisture between layers of material has a negative effect on bonding.
- If it rains after the first 2-3 hours from the moment of impregnation, a white film will form on the surface of the base, which does not affect the quality of the impregnation.

Application examples/Material consumption
Impregnation
-
To impregnate a surface made of concrete grade C20 /25, one layer is sufficient, while spending 0.1-0.15 kg of VIMEPOX BETON -IMP per 1 m2;
-
Usually 2 layers are used for coating (consumption 0.2-0.3 kg/m2).
-
With a very porous and absorbent surface, it is possible to apply a third layer (consumption 0.3-0.4 kg/m2);
-
Each subsequent layer must be applied 15 minutes after the previous one (liquid-to-liquid application).
-
In this way, you will achieve the maximum penetration depth of VIMEPOX BETON -IMP.
- The slipperiness of the surface is not affected by the impregnation, as this epoxy is very fluid and creates a very thin coating.
Sealing coating
-
If, after 6 - 24 hours, from the moment the impregnation is completed, another layer of VIMEPOX BETON –IMP is applied , with a material consumption of approximately 0.2 kg/m2, this will contribute to the creation of a sealing coating;
- Thus, a closed, transparent coating is created on the concrete surface, with a thickness of 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm, which has increased resistance to corrosion.
General remarks
-
Normally, a floor impregnated with VIMEPOX BETON –IMP does not have a uniform aesthetic appearance, due to the fact that the concrete-cement material does not have the same absorption capacity.
- As a result, the surface will be partly dark and partly light. If for aesthetic reasons this is unacceptable, sealing colored coatings such as VIMEPOX F-COAT or VIMEPOX SP-COAT are applied after the impregnation has been applied .

Sanitary Precautions
-
VIMEPOX BETON –IMP contains solvents.
-
Before using the material, make sure that the room is well ventilated.
-
The hardeners used in epoxy systems are corrosive materials, and therefore, persons using them must work in overalls, gloves and goggles.
-
If resin, hardener or a mixture of them comes into contact with the skin, then immediately wipe these places with a tissue, and then wash them with soap and water (it is recommended to add 2% vinegar to the washing agent).
-
In case of contact of the material with the eyes, the affected area should immediately be washed with plenty of running cold tap water for the first 10-15 minutes, and then contact an ophthalmologist.
- Once cured , VIMEPOX BETON-IMP is absolutely harmless to health.
Cleaning tools
Upon completion of work, the tools must be immediately cleaned with a special solvent for epoxy compositions - VIMEPOX SOLVENT.
Storage
The material is stored in closed containers, in shady rooms with an ambient temperature not exceeding 25°C.
