Surface preparation

  • The applied surface must be carefully prepared - smooth or semi-smooth, durable - such as the surface of concrete or metal;

  • When applying the material to the concrete surface, make sure that the concrete is free from cement laitance, oils and greases, protective films, etc.;

  • Make sure that the concrete is strong, there are no falling off or collapsing parts on its surface (if any, it is recommended to carry out repair and restoration work using repair materials of the series: ( MasterEmaco or MasterBrace );

  • Make sure that all surface irregularities are removed, the concrete surface is leveled and repaired;

  • Make sure the concrete is at least 28 days old before applying the material;

  • All contaminants present on the concrete surface in the form of industrial oils, greases, fats, etc. must be removed;

  • It is recommended to remove the cement laitance from the concrete surface and expose the air holes in the concrete surface with light sandblasting;

  • When applying the material to the surface of steel, it is recommended to remove all previously applied types of coatings and bring the surface to the basic appearance of pure metal;

  • The surface of the base metal must be treated with a grinder with a nozzle disk, and it is also desirable to sandblast it;

  • In cases where it is not possible to apply sandblasting to the surface, it is recommended to work with pneumatic guns, jackhammers, rotating metal brushes or special treatment with a burner flame;

  • It is also recommended to pre-clean the surface with a solvent or strong detergent to ensure complete removal of technical oils from the surface;

  • Do not allow surface to oxidize prior to application of MasterProtect 180;

  • Therefore, areas for movement of people and vehicles should not be opened until the surface is dry.

Consumption

  • Consumption: 0.2 - 0.4 l / m2;

  • Approximately 1 l per 3-5 m2 of surface;

  • Consumption depends on the porosity of the treated surface;

  • A 20-liter canister can process 60-100 m2;

Cleaning tools

  • The equipment used during work, as well as individual areas on which the composition accidentally got, should be washed with soapy water to avoid the formation of stains;

  • MasterProtect 180 leaves a visible mark on non-porous surfaces such as glass, metal, painted surfaces;

  • Remains of MasterProtect 180 can be removed from the surface with a metal spatula;

  • Plants should be protected from being sprayed with this material.

Package

MasterProtect 180 - supplied as a kit, with a total weight of 5 kg.

Shelf life and storage conditions

  • Guaranteed shelf life of MasterProtect 180 material is 12 months;

  • The material should be stored in a tightly closed container at a temperature not exceeding 35°C;

  • Caution: Do not freeze!

Security measures

  • When working with MasterProtect 180 material, it is necessary to observe the well-known safety measures that apply when working with chemical products;

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes;

  • In case of contact with the mucous membrane of the eye, it is necessary to immediately rinse the eyes thoroughly with water and consult a doctor, providing information about the properties of the material;

  • It is necessary to carefully close the package after use;

  • Keep out of the reach of children;

  • Do not approach storage facilities during a fire;

  • Store products in well-ventilated areas;

  • During work, work clothes, protective gloves, goggles and a mask should be used in accordance with health and safety regulations;

  • Since uncured materials have an irritating effect, contact of the components with the skin and eyes should not be allowed, and in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water;

  • If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately;

  • It is forbidden to bring food and drink to the construction site where the product is applied;

  • The product must be kept out of the reach of children;

Mixing

  • MasterProtect 180 is supplied as a kit consisting of two components pre-packaged and weighed at the manufacturer's plant - the base component and the hardener;

  • It is not recommended to use any additional additives or use the material in the wrong proportions;

  • Add the contents of the hardener component to the contents of the base component and then mix thoroughly with a low-speed drill equipped with a special mixing nozzle until a homogeneous mass is achieved in composition and color, for at least 3-5 minutes.

Application of material when installing a polymer floor

  •  MasterProtect 180 is applied to the surface using high quality rollers, short hair brushes or airless spray;

  • The material is recommended to be applied in two layers in contrasting colors to ensure a full and high-quality coverage;
  • Before applying each layer of material, the applied surface is tested for the presence of small holes;

  • Surface areas with a pronounced presence of small holes must be pre-treated (filled) using a repair material of the series: MasterBrace ADH 1406 - a thixotropic filler based on epoxy resin;

  • If the application of the subsequent coat of material is delayed for any reason for a period of time exceeding 16 hours and an ambient temperature of 40°C or for a period of time of 36 hours and a temperature of 20°C (the higher the ambient temperature, the shorter the maximum waiting time before applying the subsequent layer), the initially applied layer of material must be carefully abraded to give the initially applied layer adequate mechanical adhesion, it is also recommended that the initially applied layer be wiped with a solvent.

Airless spray method

For airless spray application, it is recommended to use a pump with a high flow rate (45:1 ratio) or higher, with a minimum hose diameter of 9mm and a HP type spray nozzle with a diameter of 19-23mm.

Application of additional layers

  • When resurfacing damaged areas, it is very important that the areas to be coated with an additional layer of material are previously abraded with a rotating metal bristle brush or sandpaper to give adequate mechanical adhesion;

  • It is recommended to completely remove any poorly adhering coating and reapply the material in this part;

Consumption

  • 0.20 – 0.40 kg/m²/ when applied in one layer;

  • It is recommended to apply a protective coating in two layers.

Precautionary measures

  • Do not apply at temperatures below or above the recommended temperature +5°C +30°C;

  • In case of application in the cold, heat the material to a temperature of +20°C +25°C in advance before application;

  • The application time of systems based on epoxy resins depends on the temperature;

  • At low temperatures, the reaction slows down, which increases the working time and setting time;

  • High temperature speeds up the reaction and the times mentioned above are shortened;

  • In order for the material to harden, the temperatures of the material, base and air cannot be less than the minimum permitted temperatures;
  • The coating must be protected from direct sunlight, wind, frost or rain for 24 hours;

  • Areas that are not yet fully cured should not come into contact with water;

  • In tanks and other objects where structural movements are possible, it is recommended to apply between the base and the MasterProtect 180 coating an intermediate coating of MasterTile WP 666 or MasterSeal 525 (application in 2 layers);
  • MasterProtect 180 has limited UV resistance.
