Description
Characteristics
Application

Protective coating for mineral substrates

  • Master Seal 525 | It is a two-component, acrylic-reinforced, cementitious coating requiring only mixing (powder with liquid) on site.

  • Ideal for waterproofing and surface protection of concrete, masonry and most other building materials.

Scope of MasterSeal 525 for all industries

  • Re-protection and leveling of concrete surfaces;

  • Waterproof coating for water-retaining structures;

  • Coating for channels with sea water;

  • Sealing and coating holes in anchor struts to achieve water tightness;

  • Giving waterproofness and protection against sea water;

  • Building foundation protection;

  • Waterproof coating for roofs;

  • Arrangement of an exploited terrace;

  • Underlayment for marble and granite, preventing water infiltration and thus accumulation of moisture on the surface;

  • Laying tiles in water-retaining structures;

  • Protection of concrete surfaces from the damaging effects of carbon and chlorine;

  • Covering sidewalks on the sea embankments.

 Advantages

  • A 1 mm thick coating protects more than 80 cm of concrete from carbon attack;

  • Water resistance up to 7 bar;

  • Excellent adhesiveness. Adheres to both porous and non-porous materials;

  • Flexibility;

  • Non-toxic - ideal for contact with drinking water;

  • "Breathes": repelling water, lets air through;

  • High resistance to carbon dioxide and diffusion of chloride ions;

  • Unlike conventional protective coatings applied to 7-28 day old concrete, MasterSeal 525 can be applied to 24 hour concrete, thus providing immediate protection.

Scope of MasterSeal 525 for floors

  • Basement floor waterproofing.

  • Foundation waterproofing.

  • Floor waterproofing in a private house.

  • Floor waterproofing in the apartment.

  • Waterproofing the floor in the bathroom under the tiles.

  • Floor waterproofing before screed.

  • Waterproofing of basement walls (negative).

  • Waterproofing the floor in the garage.

  • Floor waterproofing on an open terrace.

  • Floor waterproofing on an open balcony.

Chemical resistance

Masterseal 525 has outstanding weather and wear resistance, as well as good chemical resistance to gasoline, diesel fuel, sodium hydroxide, calcium chloride, anti-ice salts.

Surfaces coated with Mastersil 525 are highly resistant to weak acids.

Surface preparation

  • The surface to be coated must be structurally sound and completely free from traces of paint, efflorescence, flaking, dust, gypsum plaster, etc., and free from grease;

  • Removal of cement laitance and loose layers (in depth and along the plane) from the surface to a “healthy” base is recommended to be carried out with high-pressure water or sandblasting. Other cleaning methods are not recommended;

  • Do not apply Mastersil 525 to a frozen surface;

  • All damage and defects in concrete must be eliminated: cracks are opened to a depth of approximately 2 cm, bare steel reinforcement bars are cleaned and treated with an anti-corrosion compound;

  • It is necessary to ensure the depth of the working reinforcement of about 2 cm, and the metal parts of 1 cm, by cutting out the metal or building up the protective layer.

ATTENTION

High-quality cleaning and preparation of the base are the key to successful waterproofing of the structure!

Preparing the mixture

  • MasterSeal 525 is supplied in two prepackaged units by weight;

  • Pour the resin from the canister into a clean container for mass preparation;

  • Then pour the powder in parts, constantly mixing with a low-speed drill (400-600 rpm), and finally, bring the mass to a homogeneous, creamy consistency;

  •  The liquid/powder ratio should be observed as provided by the packaging;

  • The addition of water to the mixture is excluded;

  • Depending on the temperature and relative humidity of the air, the mixture does not lose its properties within 30-60 minutes.

Application

  • Before application, moisten the surface abundantly with water, without leaving excess water on the surface.;

  • Typically , MasterSeal 525 is applied with a nylon bristle brush such as MAXBRUSH or MAXBROOM, which allows the material to fill all pores and voids, as well as with a trowel or spray equipment;

  • Application by spraying or spraying is used for large areas of work;

  • Recommended pressure 3.5-5.0 bar, nozzle size 3-4 mm;

  • When spraying it is necessary to use a brush to ensure the continuity and continuity of the first layer;

  • Spatulas and trowel are used when it is necessary to obtain a smooth and even coating;

  • After completion of work, the tool is washed with plain water and stored until the next use;

  • MasterSeal 525 is applied in 2 coats;

  • When using a brush, the first coat is applied in one direction until a continuous, continuous and uniform coating is obtained;

  • The second layer is recommended to be applied after 16 hours, but no later than after 3 days;

  • It must be applied in a perpendicular direction;

  • The material consumption per layer is about 1 kg/m2, it is necessary to know that the total consumption depends on the surface roughness and is about 2 kg/m2;

  • When using MasterSeal 525 as a protective coating, the optimum flow rate is 1.8 kg/m2.

  • In places of moving seams, junctions, etc., where deformations are expected or possible, the first layer is reinforced (40 g / m2) with a light mesh;

  • A mesh tape 20 cm wide is laid on a fresh layer of MasterSeal 525, sunk into it and immediately covered with a layer of material so that it would be fixed in the layer and the mesh cells would hide.

  • In this case, the consumption increases by an average of 0.5 kg/m2.

Application temperature

  • Optimum application temperature +10 ÷ +25°С;

  • Do not apply MasterSeal 525 at temperatures below 5°C or where temperatures are expected to drop within 24 hours of coating;

  • Protect the coating from rapid drying, in strong winds, temperatures above +30°C, for example, by spraying with water for 2 hours after application, and if rain is expected in the next 24 hours, then the freshly applied coating should be covered from rain;

  • The start-up time of the waterproofing coating depends on the temperature and relative humidity of the air;

  • At a temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 50%, the coating can be in direct contact with water after 14 days;

  • The maturation period of the coating applied at low temperatures and in a non-ventilated area increases;

  • Before placing a coating that will work in direct contact with water, flush MasterSeal 525 with water.

ATTENTION

  • Do not apply the product to gypsum plaster or similar surfaces;

  • When preparing MasterSeal 525, do not add water, cement, sand or other components that are not specified in the technical description, because. in this case, a negative result (lack of waterproofing properties of the final coating) should be expected.

Colors

Gray and white.

Consumption

One set (20 kg) is enough for approximately 10 m2.
