Foundation Requirements
-
The concrete mix must comply with GOST 7473-94 “Concrete mixes. Specifications".
-
Recommended concrete mixture BSG B 22.5, P3(P4), F150 (F200), W4 (W6).
-
Recommended concrete compressive strength class, not less than B22.5.
-
For industrial floors with dry shake hardener subject to heavy loads, it is recommended to use concrete of at least B30 grade.
-
The strength index of concrete, in tension (on separation), not less than 1.5 MPa.
-
Mobility P3 (cone draft 11-15 cm when concreting on a direct drain), P4 (cone draft 16-20 cm when concreting with a concrete pump).
-
The presence in the concrete mixture of air- entraining and salt-containing additives that promote efflorescence in industrial concrete floors is not allowed.
-
For optimal concrete quality, the use of Sikament or Sika Viscocrete superplasticizers is recommended.
-
When using fiber, it must be evenly distributed throughout the volume of the concrete mixture;
-
Substrate temperature: +5°C to +35°C;
-
Air temperature: +5°C to +35°C;
- Relative air humidity: 30% to 98%.
Arrangement of industrial floors
Dry shake hardener Sikafloor 2 Syntop | Dry shake toppings
-
Application by mechanized method - an automated dispenser in conjunction with a laser screed.
- Apply evenly Sikafloor-2 SynTop to the surface of a freshly poured concrete base, after leveling the surface, with a laser screed, at a rate of 5 kg/m2 for natural grey, 5-8 kg/m2 for other colors in one application.
Automated topping for industrial floors
Topping Sikafloor-2 Syntop by hand
-
Depending on the conditions: remove the water that has come out (for example, we stretch the hose over the surface of the concrete) or let the water evaporate by itself.
-
Apply Sikafloor-2 SynTop evenly, in two coats.
-
The first time with a consumption of 3-5 kg/m2 (depending on the color), the second time - 2-3 kg/m2 (depending on the color).
-
When grouting a topped concrete surface, try to avoid the formation of waves and "ripples" on the surface of the concrete.
-
Do not exceed 5kg/m2 for industrial floors with toppings.
- Spreading Sikafloor-2 SynTop Dry Reinforcement over a distance of more than 2m is fraught with segregation of the mixture and the formation of surface defects.
Manual distribution of topping when laying industrial floors
Grouting concrete floors with Sikafloor shake hardener
The second part of the mixture (2-3 kg/m2) should be applied immediately after the first part has been coarsely grouted with Sikafloor-2 SynTop.
Recommendations
-
Never add water when working with dry surface hardeners;
-
When working with Sikafloor-2 SynTop, the surface hardens faster than usual;
-
Carefully process and trim the edges of the fills, especially if a new grip will be attached to these edges in the future;
- The final grouting to close the pores and remove the waviness of the surface can be done both manually and mechanically.
Tool cleaning
All tools and equipment should be washed with water immediately after use.
Cured material can only be removed mechanically.

Hardener application time
-
The time of application of the dry hardener, topping, strongly depends on the actual conditions of concrete laying;
-
When carried in a mechanized way (work with an automated dispenser and a laser screed), the dry hardener crumbles immediately, leveling the surface with a screed, which allows the process of cement hydration in the dry mix to begin;
-
Surface troweling begins as soon as the surface is able to support the weight of the troweling equipment;
-
When applied manually, the dry hardener crumbles as soon as the concrete surface gains strength sufficient to withstand a person (prints deeper than 3 - 5 mm);
-
To determine the correct start time for applying the hardener, it is necessary to periodically check the condition of the concrete, at each stage of work.
Application notes / Limitations
-
Works with a dry hardener should not be carried out in strong winds, in a draft, at low temperatures, as well as at the time of precipitation or immediately after it;
-
Do not use concrete on cements with fly ash added, this makes the mixture sticky and makes it less easy to work with;
-
Variations in concrete characteristics such as water content and cement quality result in slight variations in surface color;
-
Dry concrete surface hardener, by itself, gives variations in the color of the floor surface, due to the natural variation in the properties of the concrete itself;
-
To obtain minimal surface color variation, the tool must be clean.
-
Also, it is necessary to protect the surface from environmental influences as much as possible;
-
Variations in color during the drying of the surface of the concrete floor, this is a normal phenomenon (uneven drying of the surface due to different moisture content in the concrete body);
-
Every effort must be made to comply with the procedure for working with Sikafloor-2 SynTop;
-
It is necessary to adhere to the exact observance of time intervals and the technology of grouting the concrete surface;
-
At low air humidity (below 40%), the color of the floor surface may change;
- At high surface humidity (more than 80%), it is possible for water to be released on the floor surface and slow down the curing, which will require additional work.

Cleaning and care methods
-
To increase the life of the floors, it is recommended to remove all dirt and spills in a timely manner, to carry out regular cleaning using concrete floor care products.
-
Periodically apply Sikafloor ProSeal series of impregnations , as well as liquid hardeners of the Sikafloor CureHard series, to further reduce the permeability of floors to liquids and dusting.
- Instructions for cleaning, repairing minor damage and maintenance of the concrete floor are available and available upon request.
