Description
Characteristics
Application

MasterEmaco S 488 | Ready-to-use material, in the form of a dry mortar , with a maximum aggregate size of 2.5 mm.

  • MasterEmaco S 488 | non-shrinking, fast-hardening dry mix of thixotropic type , containing polymer fibers, intended for structural repair of concrete and reinforced concrete.

  • MasterEmaco S 488 | when mixed with water, a thixotropic, non-separating mortar with good adhesion to steel and concrete is formed.

  • MasterEmaco S 488 |  is non-shrinking, both in the plastic and in the hardened state.

  • MasterEmaco S 488 | does not contain metal fillers and chlorides.

  • During repair work, the material is recommended to be applied to the surface with a spray or trowel, with a thickness of 20 to 40 mm, in one layer.

  • If a repair layer of a greater thickness is required, the application is carried out in several layers.

RECOMMENDED USE :

  • dry repair mixture Emako, used in the repair of reinforced or prestressed beams;

  • repair of damaged and destroyed elements of concrete and reinforced concrete structures;

  • repair of elements of load-bearing structures, bridge supports, etc. subject to repeated loads;

  • repair of structures of machine shops, especially in places where there are a lot of mineral oils, lubricants;

  • repair of berths in ports;

  • repair of vertical and ceiling surfaces;

  • repair of chimney linings;

  • restoration of protective layers of reinforced concrete structures;

  • repair of concrete floors;

It is not recommended to use MasterEmaco S 488:

  • for pouring into formwork (use of MasterEmaco S 488 PG is recommended );

  • without additional protection, in contact with a medium having a pH value of less than 5.5.

Emako Dry Repair Mortar Packaging

MasterEmaco S 488 is packed in moisture-proof bags, 25 kg each.

Consumption of repair mixture Emako

To prepare 1 m3 of repair compound, 2000 kg of MasterEmaco S 488 is required.

Shelf life and storage conditions of dry mix Emako

  • Guaranteed shelf life of Emaco material, in undamaged original packaging, is 12 months;

  • It is necessary to store Emako dry repair mortar in a dry closed room at a temperature not lower than + 5°C.

The influence of temperature on the repair mortar Emaco for concrete

  • Material MasterEmaco S 488 can be used at air temperature during work from + 5°C to + 50°C;

  • At low ambient temperatures (from +5°С to +10°С), strength increases more slowly;

If high early strength is required, it is recommended:

  • store bags with MasterEmaco S 488 in places protected from the cold;

  • use hot water for mixing (from +30°С to +40°С);

  • after laying, cover MasterEmaco S 488 with heat-insulating materials;

  • if the temperature is below +5°C, MasterEmaco T series materials should be used.

  • If the ambient temperature is very high (above +30°C), then the only problem is the rapid loss of mobility of the Emaco repair mortar.

In this case, it is recommended:

  • store bags with MasterEmaco S 488 dry mix in a cool place;

  • use cold water to mix the dry mix Emako;

  • prepare the repair composition of Emako, in the coolest time of the day.

PREPARATION OF THE SURFACE TO BE REPAIRED

  • The edges of the defective area should be contoured with a diamond tool perpendicular to the surface, to a depth of at least 20 mm;

  • Remove broken concrete using a light hammer drill, needle gun or water sandblaster;

  • It is necessary that the surface be rough, with grooves 5 mm high, to ensure good adhesion of the base and the Emako repair mortar ;

  • This operation is very important, as MasterEmaco S 488 requires a well-prepared, rough surface.

In addition, you need:

  • clean the fittings from rust, if necessary, install additional fittings;

  • if the repaired structure is operated in environments aggressive to concrete and steel, it is recommended to treat the reinforcement with MasterEmaco P 5000 AP material;

  • repair all active leaks on the surface to be repaired using MasterSeal 590.

  • clean the surface of grease, paint, lime, dirt or dust.

VALVE INSTALLATION

  • The applied layer of MasterEmaco S 488  must have a thickness of at least 20 mm;

  • If the thickness of the laid layer should exceed 40 mm, it is necessary to fix the plaster mesh on the anchors, leaving a space between the mesh and the surface of at least 10 mm.

IMPREGNATION OF THE SURFACE WITH WATER

  • Before laying MasterEmaco S 488, thoroughly impregnate the surface to be repaired with water;

  • Wetting should be done every 10-15 minutes, for at least 3 hours;

  • Excess water should be removed with compressed air or rags;

  • The surface before laying MasterEmaco S 488 must be damp, but not wet.

Preparation of dry repair mortar EMACO

Before mixing MasterEmaco S 488 with water:

  • check that the available amount of MasterEmaco S 488 will be sufficient, taking into account its consumption (2000 kg dry mix MasterEmaco S 488 for the preparation of 1 m3 of repair mortar);

  • make sure that all necessary materials and equipment (mixers, carts, buckets, trowels, etc.) are at hand;

For the correct preparation of the solution, use the following instructions:

  • open the bags with MasterEmaco S 488 necessary for work, shortly before mixing;

  • pour the minimum amount of water into the mixer;

  • turn on the mixer, quickly and continuously add MasterEmaco S 488;

  • after all MasterEmaco S 488 has been poured in, mixing should be continued for 3-4 minutes until lumps disappear and the mixture becomes homogeneous;

  • if necessary, add water, as required within the prescribed amount, until the desired consistency is reached, and mix again for 2 to 3 minutes;

  • water content may vary slightly, depending on ambient temperature and relative humidity;

  • in hot and dry weather, more water may be required, in cold and humid weather, less;

  • for small batches, you can use a mixer (no more than 300-400 rpm) with a spiral nozzle;

  • Mixing MasterEmaco S 488 with gravity mixers or by hand is not recommended.

Laying the prepared repair compound Emako

  • The prepared Emako repair compound can be applied using plaster stations or laid with a trowel;

  • When applying the material manually, it is recommended to prepare a primer layer of MasterEmaco S 488 with a more liquid consistency and apply to the surface, rubbing the mixture into the base with a brush, with hard bristles;

  • Then apply the base coat using the “wet on wet” method;

  • If desired, using a wooden, plastic or synthetic sponge float, the surface can be made smooth;

  • Grating after application can only be started when the repair compound has set, i.e. when the fingers, when pressed, do not drown, but only leave a slight trace.
