MASTERSEAL 665 | Elastic bituminous floor waterproofing

Surface preparation

• The base must be dry, without defects, mostly even, clean and finely porous, free from shells, voids, cracks, dust, tar, bitumen, old paint and other factors that impair adhesion;

• Wood and metal inclusions should be removed, and active leaks should be repaired with MasterSeal 591 or other methods;

• Cavities and sinks must be filled with mixtures of the MasterEmaco series;

• At vertical and horizontal corners, rounding with a radius of at least 4 cm should be applied;

• It is recommended to prime the bottom coat with diluted MasterSeal 665.

Applying the first layer

• Take a sufficient amount of material and dilute 1:3 or 1:5 with water, depending on the absorbency of the substrate;

• Mix with an electric mixer at low speed (400-600 rpm) until a homogeneous consistency is achieved;

• Apply with a brush or brush evenly, avoiding the formation of puddles on horizontal surfaces;

• Wait for the first coat to harden sufficiently before applying the base coat;

• MasterSeal 665 can also be applied by trowel or spray.

Cover protection

• Wait for the waterproofing coating to harden sufficiently;

• Before backfilling, MasterSeal 665 must be protected from damage during backfilling by means of a drainage sheet or insulation boards;

•  Sharp stones, crushed stone, etc. are not suitable for backfilling.

Foundation waterproofing

Important aspects when applying 

• Air temperature and base temperature must be at least +5º C or not more than +30º C;

• Do not use MasterSeal 665 in the rain or if there is a chance of rain;

• The coating must be protected from direct sunlight, wind, frost or rain for 24 hours;

• The application time of systems based on cement and bitumen emulsions depends on the temperature and relative humidity of the air;

• At low temperatures, the reaction slows down, which increases the working time and setting time;

• High temperature speeds up the reaction and the times mentioned above are shortened;

• In order for the material to harden, the temperatures of the material, base and air cannot be less than the minimum permitted temperatures;

• Areas that are not yet fully cured should not be exposed to water;

• The coating can be applied to the surfaces of the structure in contact with water (positive, not negative, water pressure);

• MasterSeal 665 must be completely used up within 1 hour of mixing;

• Do not use MasterSeal 665 as an interior lining for potable water tanks and swimming pools.

Storage

• Store in cool and dry conditions, protected from frost;

• For short-term storage, a maximum of 2 pallets can be stacked one on top of the other; 

• For long-term storage, pallets cannot be stacked one on top of the other.

Best before date 

• 12 months from the date of production, under appropriate storage conditions;

• MasterSeal 665 may freeze at low temperatures;

• Close the lid of the opened canister tightly and do not store it for more than one week after opening.

Security measures 

• Do not approach storage facilities during a fire;

• Store products in well-ventilated areas;

• During work, work clothes, protective gloves, goggles and a mask should be used in accordance with health and safety regulations;

• Since uncured materials have an irritating effect, contact of the components with the skin and eyes should not be allowed, and in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water;

• If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately;

• It is forbidden to bring food and drink to the construction site where the product is used;

• The product must be kept out of the reach of children.
